Kagura talks again about the mountainbike she wants to buy, while Sakaki is only focused on the blooming flowers. The strip is titled "Cleyera japonica", as in the Latin name for the sakaki tree, hinting at a connection between Sakaki's name and her knowledge of flowers and trees.
In an early chapter we find out that Kagura is on the swim team, which Chiyo talks about here.
Chiyo says she heard on TV that if you eat chocolate while you're chewing gum, the gum will melt.

It is unknown exactly what kind of food Nyamo and Chiyo decided to make.
Kagura talks a lot about the mountainbike, but we never find out if she really did buy it.
Tomo gets very mad at Chiyo and Osaka for even suggesting that you can chew gum and eat chocolate at the same time, for unspecified reasons.
Kimura interferes with gym class and we do not know how he got there or if he got out of there.
The reader never gets to know which swimming event that is Kagura's specialty because Tomo interrupts her and starts talking about chlorine tablets.
Memorable Moments[]
Chiyo showing more responsibility for the dinner of the day than the grownups Nyamo and Yukari, which leads Nyamo into thinking Chiyo is the ideal wife.
The contrast between Kagura's interest in motorbikes and Sakaki's interest in flowers becomes very clear here, despite the fact that they appear similar on first glance. Kagura gets every flower name wrong, while Sakaki knows them all.
