In an earlier chapter, the gang discussed going to Chiyo's summer house again, which they do here.
Kagura sports a new tan in this chapter due to being on the swimming team.
Chiyo's father rented a van for everyone to fit inside so that his daughter could avoid having to ride in the Yukarimobile again, a painful experience which she also tells Kagura about.
The first time the girls went to Chiyo's summer house, Tomo was very eager about getting to smash a watermelon, which is why Chiyo brought a bat this time.
It is shown again here that Osaka likes fruit juice, like earlier when she wanted to drink fruit juice to stop her hiccups.
Just like the summer before, Tomo suggests that they all get drunk and party, however she is stopped by her teachers again.
Nyamo thinks that if Yukari drinks alcohol, it will be an utter disaster. It is shown earlier that Yukari is a mess while drunk and very difficult to handle.
In Japan it is common practice to hand out tissues with advertisement on the streets since tissues are very commonly used throughout the country. In this chapter, Osaka accepts tissues from everyone who hands them out and thus finds her hands full.
The girls go to a summer festival and participate in activities such as goldfish scooping. Sakaki also wins a Neco Coneco in the shooting gallery.

Tomo starts saying "I wanted to get a nice ..." but it is unknown what the end of that sentence was since she is interrupted by Osaka.
When Yomi goes to get drinks, Osaka orders orange juice, and two other people order cola and oolong tea, but it is not specified who the other people that ordered were and what Yomi got for herself.
Yukari mentions that before, when Nyamo was in love with a guy, she practiced tying a necktie on Yukari. But we never find out who the guy was, or who Nyamo's next crush was that Yukari mentions.
It is not known from where Tomo got the can of beer that she brought, since she is underage.
Nyamo tells the girls a dirty story, which makes everyone half impressed, half uncomfortable (except for Chiyo who doesn't understand anything). However, exactly what Nyamo told them is not found out by the reader.
