Osaka gets freaked out when she notices Chiyo has changed her hairstyle, because it reminds her of her dreams involving Chiyo's pigtails moving. She also talks about Chiyo's pigtails as if they were airplanes in this chapter by saying that Chiyo's new hairstyle looked more aerodynamic.
Because Chiyo seems so excited about the school trip, Yukari tricks her and says the trip is cancelled. She later confesses that this was just a joke and Tomo says she understands why Yukari felt the urge to do this – as seen before, they have similar personalities.
Yomi shows Chiyo a guidebook that she bought in preparation for the trip, which surprises Chiyo since Yomi tried to seem calm (like before, when she hid her excitement about going to the theme park).
Tomo wants to join the ICPO (Interpol) but Kagura thought Interpol was just something that appeared in movies and didn't actually exist.
In Japan, exchange of souvenirs is very common. Tomo tells Chiyo that when you go on a school trip you have to buy people wooden swords as souvenirs.
When Chiyo says she is so looking forward to the school trip, Tomo inserts a voice-over, as if they were on a TV show.

From where Chiyo got her sleeping Neco Coneco – Sakaki asks about this and whether they come in different sizes, but Chiyo has no time to reply.
