Cultural References[]

  • Yukari sings the song "Happy Birthday" to herself.
  • When Kagura hears that Chiyo has plans to study in America, she compares her to "Ichiro and Dice-K" (both are Japanese people who have made it in America). Ichiro Suzuki is a world-famous Japanese baseball player who plays in America as an outfielder for the Seattle Mariners, and Dice-K (Daisuke Matsuzaka) is a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox.
  • Osaka refers to the saying "Let the beloved child travel" or "If you love someone, set them free."
  • Tomo suggests the girls all go out for karaoke again.
  • Tomo says that when they went to sing karaoke last time, Yomi sang like Gian from the classic children's cartoon Doraemon, who is well-known for his terrible singing voice, despite being fond of singing himself (like Yomi is too).

Unanswered Questions[]

  • How Yukari got her motivation back.
  • Why Yomi got two cups when she bought tea with milk from the vending machine, but Tomo got none.
  • If the girls really did go out for karaoke again.
  • What happened to Tomo's umbrella after it broke.

Memorable Moments[]

  • Chiyo's and Kagura's attempts to motivate Tomo and Yukari.
  • Yukari growing envious of Nyamo because she got a birthday present from her class twice, but Yukari never did. Class 3 finally gives her a handbag to make up for it.
  • Chiyo's decision to study abroad in America instead of taking the regular college entrance exams, and her friends' comments on this.
