  • Tomo and Chiyo refer to the events of the previous chapter, leading to Maya staying at Chiyo-chan's house after travelling all the way from Okinawa to see Sakaki.
  • Once again, Osaka calls Maya "Pikanya."
  • Previously, it has been hinted that Osaka likes snuggling under a kotatsu, which she does here.
  • Since the girls talked about how Maya is a wild animal, Chiyo does not really want to look when she notices that he is eating something.
  • Osaka obsesses over breaking chopsticks cleanly again, and Chiyo finally teaches her how to do it correctly.

Cultural References[]

  • Sakaki says she has been looking up information on how to take care of Iriomote cats in books.
  • Yomi uses vocabulary cards in preparation for the center exams.
  • Osaka said that one of the careers she had been thinking about was making a specific anti-wrinkle cream because she thought it would be fun to see how they made each little drop all day long.

Unanswered Questions[]

  • Whether Kagura read "Iriomote" as "Nishihyou" by accident or if it were intentional ("Nishihyou" is another, incorrect way to pronounce the Chinese characters making up the name "Iriomote").
  • What happened to Tomo after her hand got shredded by Maya.
  • What Maya was eating when Chiyo said goodbye to him before going to school.
  • From where Tomo got the questions that she used to ask Chiyo and Osaka.
  • What career Osaka actually ended up choosing.

Memorable Moments[]

  • The girls worry about the possibility of Maya eating Tadakichi-san, though when they go to check, he has not, and Chiyo's and Sakaki's pets jump to greet them, though with Chiyo and Tadakichi-san it is much more impractical. When Tomo continues the joke, she plays a little too much with Maya and he scratches her, which the others only seem to think she deserved.
  • Sakaki spends the night at Chiyo-chan's house, and is caught by the latter when she rolls around on the floor hugging Maya, overwhelmed with his cuteness.
  • Tomo tells Chiyo-chan riddles, and due to Chiyo-chan's mostly practical way of thinking, she doesn't get them right. However, Osaka gets every single one right – an unexpected expert on the subject. This is also the only time Osaka is shown to be really good at something.
  • Because she is impressed by Osaka's putting her unusual way of thinking to good use, Chiyo-chan suggests that Osaka should become a teacher, but when Osaka asks Yukari if she thinks this would be a good career for her, Yukari feels insulted.
