  • Osaka uses the trick she invented earlier – breaking chopsticks cleanly for good luck. She has finally learnt how to do it properly, thanks to Chiyo-chan.

Trivia[]

Characters[]

Cultural References[]

The girls go to a temple, praying for good exam results.

Unanswered Questions[]

  • What Kimura's wife and daughter were going to wish for.
  • What kind of fortunes that the other girls (besides Tomo and Kagura) got.
  • How Yukari heard about the son of the shrine's priest failing his college entrance exams.
  • Why Osaka got so angry when Tomo didn't break her chopsticks correctly.
  • What kind of questions the girls had to answer that Chiyo-chan thought were boring.

Memorable Moments[]

  • The girls' temple visit. When they get their fortunes, Tomo gets a "bad luck," which is supposed to be very rare, and has no idea what to do. Yukari ends up giving the "bad luck" to Nyamo.
  • The college entrance exams. Osaka tries to make sure everyone will do well by giving them chopsticks to split cleanly, and when Tomo fails to do so, Osaka gets very angry at her for the first and only time in the series. The two of them, together with Kagura, are seriously worried about their results.

Quotes[]

WE'D BETTER SETTLE ON A PLACE TO MEET UP! I'VE GOT IT! IF YOU GET LOST, JUST MEET NEXT TO SAKAKI-CHAN!
Tomo
You don't understand! This here's the ¥10 coin of the chosen one! For whatever reason, it'll pop outta whatever vending machine you put it in! It's special.
Osaka (to Yomi)
May there be peace on earth and goodwill to all.
Kimura
It's too bad we couldn't bring Maya. HE COULDA WIPED OUT THIS WHOLE FLOCK OF PIGEONS IN TWO SECONDS. THE DOLTS WOULDA NEVER SEEN IT COMIN'!
Kagura
YUKARI-CHAN! GIVE US SOME NEW YEAR'S ALLOWANCE!
Tomo
The son of this shrine's priest failed his college entrance exams. It won't work here.
Yukari
Well, good luck with passing your exams and all. Suckers!
Yukari (to the girls)
And you call yourself a teacher!
Tomo (to Yukari)
ALL RIGHT, GANG! LET'S GO IN THERE … AND FLUNK THIS THING!!
Tomo
THE TIPS! I TOLD YOU, IT'S IN THE TIPS! YOU SCREWED IT UP!! WHY DIDN'TCHA LISTEN TO ME!?
Osaka (to Tomo)
These questions … They certainly are boring, aren't they? Yukari-sensei's tests were much more interesting.
Chiyo
Gosh, s'like Sakaki-chan practically lives her already!
Osaka (on seeing Sakaki at Chiyo-chan's house)
Sugar is an excellent source of brain fuel. Which means it's okay to eat, right? Just this once?
Yomi (to Osaka)
This kotatsu's perilous, y'know. I might just fall right to sleep.
Osaka
