Norio Wakamoto (若本 規夫 Wakamoto Norio), born October 18, 1945, in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and raised in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, is the Japanese voice actor of Chiyo-Dad in the Azumanga Daioh anime. He is a legendary voice actor, narrator, and martial artist (skilled in, for example, kendo and Shaolin Kung Fu) who graduated from Waseda University. He has been active since 1972. Wakamoto is a Shintoist. Before he became a voice actor, he was a police officer assigned to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Anti-Riot Squad division. He is known for his many villain roles, which he gets due to his sharp and penetrating voice. Some of the many anime he has appeared in include D.Gray-man, Dragon Ball Z, Fairy Tail, Lucky Star, D.N.Angel, Detective Conan, Astro Boy, Lupin III, NANA, Pokémon, Maison Ikkoku, Negima!, Ah! My Goddess, Sailor Moon, Sgt. Frog, Wolf's Rain, and YuYu Hakusho. He has also appeared in numerous video games. His blood type is B.
